CARSON CITY – Reno resident Zachary Doser is the newest colonel in the Nevada Army Guard after receiving his new rank from Gov. Brian Sandoval in a “pinning” ceremony today here at the Capitol. His promotion recognizes his dedication, experience, competence and contributions to the Nevada Army Guard. Nevada Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Bill Burks also presided over the ceremony.

"One of the topics I spoke about during my State of the State address in regard to Nevadans was service above self," Sandoval said. "Col. Doser is the essence of service above self."

Doser is the commander of the 17th Sustainment Brigade which is headquartered in Las Vegas. The brigade includes more than 2,000 Soldiers in 12 companies. The brigade maintains command and control of about 66 percent of all Nevada Army Guard Soldiers.

Before assuming command of the brigade last October, Doser was the organization’s deputy commander and operations officer.

Doser has recorded 24 years in the military, including about 16 years with the Nevada Army Guard.

Doser is a 2005 graduate of the Army’s General Staff College and is currently enrolled in the Army War College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography.

In addition to his military duties, Doser works in the law enforcement field in his civilian occupation.
