Mission

The Mission of the Medical Detachment is to plan, program, provide and sustain health force protection and medical / dental support, in order to meet operational, training and mobilization medical readiness requirements of NVARNG units and Soldiers. To conduct tactical and stability support operations in support of worldwide United States Army requirements and State of Nevada emergency missions. The peacetime focus of the detachment is to train NVARNG medics in wartime medical skills needed during mobilization and in support of the Army during both conflict and peacekeeping missions. This training also includes preparation to mobilize and function effectively during a state crisis or disaster in order to sustain life and public safety. The unit is also actively involved in the medical aspects of readiness and mobilization for each Soldier in the Nevada Army National Guard and has a platoon in Reno and in Las Vegas. All combat medics are qualified as National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians - Basic for a high level of proficiency both on and off the battlefield. The detachment’s professional staff, comprised of doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and dentists, are able to pursue its specialties in an environment of leadership and dedication to the service of their country unequaled in a civilian setting.
