| Tue, November 03, 2009 Ivan Gonzales won the Nevada Army Guard’s Soldier of the Year competition here after dominating the grueling three-day competition that concluded October 24. Gonzales, who went to Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, represented the 72nd Military Police Company. Gonzales had the highest score on the written exam, the best physical fitness-test score, the best Army Warrior tasks rating and the fastest ruck march time. Gen. | Wed, October 28, 2009 STEAD—The soldiers of C Company, 1/168th (Medical Evacuation) Aviation unit were welcomed home from a year long deployment in Afghanistan by family and friends during a ceremony at the Army Aviation Support Facility on October 16. The unit was in the combat theater since December 2008 and evacuated 1,027 people in 663 missions. | Wed, October 21, 2009 LAS VEGAS— Cadet Hugh Allen, a soldier in the 422nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion and reserve officer cadet from the Rebel Battalion at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, decided to add a little twist to the Las Vegas Mountain Man Triathlon on September 27.
