A tribute wall with the names of about 2,700 Nevada National Guard Soldiers and Airmen deployed into combat zones since the Gulf War was unveiled Friday at the Office of the Adjutant General in Carson City in conjunction with Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval’s proclamation designating April 17, 2015, as “Nevada National Guard Combat Veterans Remembrance Day.”

HAWTHORNE -- America’s self-proclaimed Patriotic Home is just weeks away from hosting one of the country’s largest and longest-running Armed Forces Day Celebrations in the nation on May 16. Hawthorne is set for its 65th annual celebration; only Bremerton, Wash., has marked Armed Forces Day more often with its 67th annual parade upcoming in May.

LAS VEGAS – Staff Sgt. Samuel Wright’s mixture of culinary skills blended perfectly during the Nevada Army Guard’s Silver Chef competition in March as the 150th Maintenance Company cook won first place in the contest held here at the North Las Vegas Readiness Center.
