State Mission

The state mission is to provide a regulated militia for the state of Nevada in support of the state constitution and the Governor’s office. The state mission entails protecting the lives and property of the public, both residents and visitors, during times of emergency, disaster or disorder, and to add value to our Nevada Communities through local National Guard activities, programs, and events.
Federal Mission

The federal mission is to provide trained and ready units to respond to federal mobilizations as directed by Congress or the President. Additionally, both the Army and Air provide daily support to the nation through airlift missions, counterdrug activities and numerous ground support missions.
Overview and History

The Nevada Air National Guard was established on April 12, 1948. Originally designated the 192nd Fighter Squadron and flying P-51 Mustangs, the unit has grown from 43 officers and 45 enlisted airmen to more than 1,100 men and women serving today.
Over the next 50 years the unit's mission has changed from a fighter squadron to a bomber squadron, to a reconnaissance unit to the present mission of an air mobility wing. Missions changes usually mean aircraft changes and the unit has seem many changes in the types of aircraft assigned. From the propeller driven P-51 Mustang to the current four-turbo prop C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.
The mission of the Nevada Air National Guard is to provide C-130 airlift, airdrop, photo mapping and other critical Air Force support missions consistent with national objectives. Flying the C-130H, The Nevada Air Guard High Rollers are proud to celebrate 60 years serving their nation, their state and their local communities.
